On January 1, 2024 Mickey Mouse entered the Public Domain which means it is no longer protected by copyright laws. However, this doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want with images of Mickey Mouse. The version that entered the Public Domain is basically version 1.0 from Steamboat Willie, the original Mickey Mouse design. I discuss some more details in this video.

To clarify something I do not mention in the video, Cricut and other sources may have licensing to sell the images, but you are then beholden to any restrictions that may apply. For example, if you purchase a license image such as Mickey Mouse from Cricut, you may only make items for personal use or gifts and you cannot resell them.
